THAI MASSAGE THERAPY
Thai massage is
also known as Thai ancient massage, traditional Thai massage, Thai yoga
massage, yoga massage, Thai classical massage, Thai bodywork, passive yoga or
assisted yoga. Thai massage originated in India and is based on yoga,
thereafter becoming popular in ancient Siam,
now known as Thailand.
Oil is not used in traditional Thai
Massage and loose comfortable clothing is a must. The massage generally follows
the sen lines on the body — somewhat analogous to meridians or channels in
Chinese medicine and Indian nadis. Legs and feet of the giver are used
to fixate the body or limbs of the recipient while the receiver is put into
many yoga like positions during the course of the massage. A full Thai massage session typically lasts
two hours or more, and includes rhythmic pressing and stretching of the entire
body in a standard rhythmic flow.
$60.00 1 hour
$85.00 1.5 hours
$105.00 2 hours

The Egoscue Method
Check monthly schedule for times class is offerd.
World leader in
non-medical pain relief.
Why am I in
pain? Chronic musculoskeletal pain (and its close
partners restriction, numbness, limitation) can be traced to dysfunctional and
compensatory muscle groups throughout the body.
Where the pain is - IS NOT - where the problem is. Chronic pain is the body’s way of telling us
that something is very wrong: that something is out of alignment. It’s time to listen to, and act on, this
message. It’s NEVER too late.
What is
Egoscue? Pete Egoscue created The Egoscue Method 30
years ago in an effort to get himself out of pain. The Method is a process involving a series of
stretches and gentle exercises that work deep in the soft tissue layers of the
skeletal structure to bring about balance and symmetry to the standing
anatomical posture. Most simply put:
it’s a posture therapy program! Our
Grandmother’s meant well when they nagged us to sit up straight. Unfortunately, our modern lifestyle has
impacted our body’s ability to maintain a proper “S” curve in the spine and an
even distribution of balance within our load-bearing joints. The Egoscue Method is a unique and very
effective program designed to effectively and permanently treat musculoskeletal
pain without drugs, surgery or
manipulation.
How does it
work? A
fully functioning joint always goes back to its neutral position after
performing a task. Within the
dysfunctions of pain and limitations, these joints get stuck in flexion, or
extension, or even in rotation, setting off a chain of events throughout the
body. Unlike conventional PT, The
Egoscue Method takes into consideration how the whole body works as a
unit. It seeks to sort out and treat the
cause of the pain, rather than the symptoms. Egoscue works by returning the body to its
original blueprint – the standing normal anatomical position. A position where the 8 major load joints
(shoulders, hips, knees, ankles) are directly aligned, both vertically and
horizontally. An individual can deviate
from this position for several reasons (including past trauma) and the result
is muscular imbalance, loss of strength and flexibility, compensation, and
finally: pain.
As a certified
posture therapist, Karen Briner has successfully created a group class that,
although not specifically intended for any one individual as in private
practice, has been very beneficial to participants since its inception two
years ago. To be able to experience this
class, an individual need only to be able to get up and down off the floor with
relative ease.
Starting today,
you don’t have to live with pain.

Community Brown
Bag Lunches
Next Luncheon: Monday, October 6 at Noon!
Are you aware of what is going on in Skagway? Do you have a great idea for our town? Find out what is happening each month and chat about the things you would like to see take place in your community! Every
first Monday of the month at 12 pm, the SRC is hosting brown bag
luncheons to enhance communication between local businesses,
organizations and individuals alike. Bring
a bite to eat and join your fellow townsfolk in a discussion on
upcoming events and community issues. In a casual forum we can share
information, promote activties and help improve the vitality of our
winter community. The lunches will be held
in the SRC Multi-purpose room and participants will have use of the
microwave, stove top, and kitchen utensils. Coffee and tea will be available at a minimal cost. Everyone is invited so spread the word!
